Itinerary


1. Arrive Helsinki
Be met on arrival in Helsinki and transfer to your hotel. This evening, get to know your Tour Director and fellow travellers as you enjoy a Welcome Reception.

2. Helsinki, Rovaniemi (Glass Igloos)
This morning after breakfast, board your included flight to Rovaniemi and travel out to your accommodation, where you will stay in a unique glass igloo for two nights, where you will feel as if you’re sleeping in the open-air, but being warm and cosy inside.

3. Rovaniemi (Glass Igloos)
Enjoy lunch in a cosy kota-hut, where you can sample the local coffee, unique crowberry juice and homemade pastries. This afternoon, visit the Arktikum, a science museum that provides an insight into the history of the region. You will also enjoy a short presentation, ‘The Land of Snow and Northern Lights’. Return to your glass igloo village, when you will hopefully see the Aurora Borealis.

4. Rovaniemi
Today, you will have the opportunity to select your included sightseeing activity. Enjoy a delicious dinner this evening.

After today’s exploration, you’ll enjoy time to explore at your leisure.

6. Rovaniemi, Helsinki
Pay a visit to Santa Claus Village before transferring to Rovaniemi airport for your included return flight to Helsinki.

7. Helsinki
Enjoy a private guided tour of Helsinki’s best sites. Enjoy an insider’s access to Temppeliaukio, the famous ‘Rock Church’. Built into solid rock, the church’s inner wall has been left unfinished, and is crowned with a solid copper dome. In Sibelius Park, view the Sibelius Monument before moving on to the Olympic Stadium that was initially constructed for the 1940 Olympics, however was cancelled due to war and finally held in 1952. Stroll along the city’s main street, Mannerheimintie, and see its many exquisite buildings, including the Opera House, Alvar Aalto and the National Museum. Tonight, enjoy a Farewell Dinner.

8. Helsinki, Amsterdam
Board your included flight to Amsterdam, then board your river ship.

9. Amsterdam
Spend today on your selected activity. In the evening, enjoy a Gala Welcome Dinner on board with your fellow travellers.

10. Cologne, Bonn, Andernach
Enter Germany and cruise into Cologne, a city centred around the twin spires of its famous cathedral. Here, your day takes one of two paths on your chosen activity. Later, rejoin your ship in Bonn and cruise to Andernach where a special experience awaits.

11. Rüdesheim
Approach the most beautiful stretch of the Rhine River today, where crumbling ruins cling to rocky cliffs and rolling hillsides are marked with perfectly planted vineyards. Your ship later docks at the town of Rüdesheim.

12. Miltenberg
Witness the skilful art of glass-blowing on board as you cruise towards the pretty Franconian town of Miltenberg this morning. After the day’s activity, return to your ship for a delicious dinner.

13. Würzburg
Seize the day with your preferred sightseeing activity.

14. Bamberg
This morning your ship will arrive in World Heritage-listed Bamberg, one of the few German cities that wasn’t destroyed during World War II. Here, you will explore the Old Town with a guide to discover a range of historic churches and buildings, including the town hall on the River Regnitz. Following your tour, rejoin your ship to cruise onto the Main-Danube Canal. Having taken 32 years to construct, the canal links the North and Black seas and is recognised as a feat of modern engineering.

15. Nuremberg
Choose your sightseeing in Nuremberg. Back on board, sample some delicious freshly baked gingerbread while cruising the Main-Danube Canal.

Arrive in Vienna, home to an array of striking architecture as well as a rich classical music culture and vibrant cafes. Take in many of the city’s most important landmarks during a tour along the Ringstrasse, Vienna’s famous ring boulevard officially opened by Emperor Franz Joseph I in 1865. You’ll also enjoy a guided walk to St Stephen’s Cathedral.
